I’m originally from Edinburgh but have lived in Llanmaes (with my wife Caroline) for 25 years although we moved here after spending three years living in America. We moved here for work in the chemical industry and have stayed ever since. I have two daughters who are both away ‘studying’ at university just now and it was an immense privilege to bring up a family in such a neighbourly, pleasant and rural community. I have been a community councillor for ten years now and became chairman last April. As a family we like all sorts of outdoor activities, nature and wildlife so I am committed to protecting our community from the many pressures exerted on us which could detract from the qualities that make Llanmaes so special.

I’m originally from beautiful Kingsgate on the Kent coast but moved to Reading for University and found myself remaining there throughout my working life. The majority of my career was within the pharmaceutical sector, ultimately becoming the Chief HR Officer for a global research organisation. When the opportunity for early retirement arose, I jumped at the chance and my husband and I landed firmly on our feet when we discovered Llanmaes. We absolutely love it here and are for ever amazed at the wonderful community spirit and support we come across daily. We are fortunate that some of our family are close by, with both my daughters also living in Wales. We thoroughly enjoy walking the beach with our two rescue dogs and getting involved in various community activities. I joined the Community Council in order to try and helpful maintain the marvellous community spirit we have here and look forward to working towards keeping Llanmaes the wonderful village that it is.
